Govt Created Jobs In Traditional & Emerging Sector: PM Narendra Modi At Rozgar Mela

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized that the government has created employment opportunities in both traditional and emerging sectors, including renewable energy, defense exports, and automation. During a virtual event where appointment letters were distributed to nearly 51,000 individuals recruited in various government departments as part of the 'Rozgar Mela,' he highlighted the government's commitment to the youth of the country.

Further, PM Modi underlined that the government not only offers employment but also maintains a transparent recruitment process, with efforts made to streamline the examination procedure. The 'Rozgar Mela' has provided appointment letters to numerous young people since its inception in October of the previous year. This initiative has been jointly organized by the government and states ruled by the BJP and its allies.

He mentioned that India is equipping its youth with skills and education to tap into emerging opportunities, generating new employment prospects across all sectors. The Prime Minister also noted that the time taken for recruitment by the Staff Selection Commission has been significantly reduced, and exams are now conducted in multiple regional languages to eliminate language barriers.

Additionally, PM Modi discussed the recent recognition of several Indian places as tourism and heritage sites by UN bodies, which has contributed to employment opportunities. He also highlighted the growing employment prospects in the sports sector, as per a report in The Indian Express.

India's unemployment rate has reached a one-year low, according to official data released recently. This indicates a sustained increase in economic activity and a steady post-pandemic recovery. In urban areas, the unemployment rate for people aged 15 years and above was 6.6% in the April-June 2023 period, compared to 7.6% during the same quarter the previous year. The latest data shows a slight decrease from the joblessness rate of 6.8% recorded in the preceding three months (January-March 2023).

The unemployment rate is calculated by dividing the number of unemployed individuals by the labor force (people with jobs plus the unemployed), and then multiplying by 100. Unemployed individuals who are not actively seeking employment are not considered part of the labor force. Additionally, the labor force participation rate (LFPR) has reached a four-quarter high of 48.8%, compared to 47.5% in the same quarter of the previous year. These figures suggest positive trends in India's labor market and broader economic recovery.
