This Monsoon, 40,000 Families In Narmada Risk Submergence If We Dont Speak Up

Supported by

40,000 families from the Narmada Valley stand to lose their homes, land and livelihoods due to submergence by the Sardar Sarovar Dam. You can save their homes and livelihoods by signing the petition here. For thirty years they have nonviolently raised questions of displacement, rehabilitation, and democracy in development planning. They have led the world in understanding the impacts of large dams on society and the environment and in developing alternatives. Now, with the monsoon approaching, these families are faced with the threat of submergence. And just like many thousands before, these families, living in the submergence zone, will lose their homes, fields, villages, panchayats and towns. Although the government has claimed that people have been rehabilitated, several fact-finding commissions have found these claims to be false.

And hence the request to sign the petition, share the petition so our collective voices can reach the concerned authorities and we can stop them from closing the gates and risking the lives of 40,000 families. We need your signatures to request our Prime Minister to order to not close the gates of Sardar Sarovar Dam, please sign the petition here: 40,000 families are at stake. Do not close gates of SSP Dam.
