Handwritten letters are extremely personal, and they can never be compared to a message sent through e-mail or a few lines over your chat application. You can touch them smell them, feel them and it gives sense of connect other medium miss these days, because you know the piece of paper you are holding was in the hand of the person who sent them to you and did pen down his or her feeling on it.

Who other than Pradeep Lokhande could tell you this better? Known as postcard man this social activist from Pune has received more than 94,000 letters (postcards) from the people who he has touched through his work.

He has the data of 49,000 villages in 10 Indian states at his fingertips as he communicates with them regularly. Surprising he still communicates with the 58 lakh people from villages through postcards.

He receives more than 150 postcards in a day from various parts of the country. He believed to be the only person who has a one-line address in our country — Pradeep Lokhande, Pune, 411013 because of the traffic he receives.

He has helped in opening 3,055 libraries specially for kids from the villages in Maharashtra, and he gets most of the postcard from them.

He is so fond of postcard communication; he got his daughter Kadambari to invite her friends for her wedding by printing the invitation on postcards.

We appreciate Pradeep Lokhande for giving village kids opportunity to know the world and achieve something in life by opening libraries. And his efforts to keep the tradition of card sending alive.
