Dr Faizah Anjum and Dr Savitri Devi, both are interns working for Apollo Hospitals, Secunderabad. They were returning yesterday at night from somewhere, when they came across a road traffic accident with the victim having no/feeble pulse and surrounded by a huge crowd.
The person was presumed dead by passers-by, who were lost in taking photos and videos on cell phones. Not minding personal safety in the midst of the boisterous crowd the two ladies waded into the crowd and though having no medical instruments used their skill and ingenuity to revive the victim.
They used a pen to keep the tongue from falling into the throat and thus sustained airway.
They folded a news paper and began to blow air into his lungs as the other did chest compressions.
Even though the ambulance had not arrived after 25 minutes they continued CPR and revived the victim.
When the ambulance came, they administered saline and oxygen to him.
The person survived with full heartbeat and was taken to hospital.
Such bold selfless care by our young doctors is what medical field is all about.

We appreciate that both of them took action and saved the life of a person assumed to be dead by the passers-by, instead of being bystanders.
