In a shocking incident in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan, 25-year-old Rohitash Kumar, who was mistakenly declared dead by doctors, regained consciousness moments before his cremation on Thursday. He was rushed back to the hospital but sadly passed away early Friday morning. In response to this grave medical error, the state government has suspended three doctors and initiated an inquiry into the hospital’s practices.

A Miraculous Awakening

Rohitash Kumar, a deaf and mute man residing in a shelter home for the mentally challenged, was admitted to BDK Hospital after suffering epileptic seizures. Doctors declared him dead at around 2 PM without conducting a proper post-mortem examination. His body was handed over for cremation, but as preparations were underway at the crematorium, he suddenly exhibited signs of life. Eyewitnesses were astounded as he began breathing just before the cremation, prompting immediate medical attention. He was taken back to BDK Hospital and subsequently referred to SMS Hospital in Jaipur for critical care. Unfortunately, despite efforts to save him, Rohitash succumbed to his condition at 5:30 AM on Friday.

Investigations and Accountability

The incident has raised serious concerns about medical negligence within Rajasthan’s healthcare system. Following the declaration of death without proper examination, district officials launched an investigation into the hospital’s protocols. The Jhunjhunu District Collector, Ramavatar Meena, confirmed that a false post-mortem report had been issued based solely on paperwork without any physical examination. As a result of these findings, three doctors—Dr. Sandeep Pachar, Dr. Yogesh Jakhar, and Dr. Navneet Meel—were suspended from their positions. The health department has formed a three-member committee to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and ensure accountability.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

This tragic event underscores the urgent need for reform within our healthcare system to prevent similar occurrences in the future. It is imperative that medical professionals adhere strictly to established protocols and prioritize patient welfare above all else. The loss of Rohitash Kumar serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities faced by individuals with disabilities in our society. As we reflect on this incident, we encourage our readers to consider: What measures can be implemented to enhance accountability and care standards in our healthcare facilities?
