A massive fire broke out at the Jungle Jamboree restaurant in Rajouri Garden, Delhi, on December 9, 2024, around 2 PM, prompting the dispatch of 11 fire tenders to control the blaze. Over 20 patrons were evacuated safely, although one woman sustained minor injuries during the escape. The cause of the fire remains unknown as authorities cordoned off the area for investigation and firefighting operations.

Panic and Evacuation Amidst Flames 

The fire erupted on the first floor of a building near Rajouri Garden Metro Station, creating thick smoke that caused panic among nearby shopkeepers and diners. Eyewitnesses reported that many individuals jumped from the restaurant’s roof to an adjacent building in a desperate attempt to escape. “We received a fire call at 2:01 PM and dispatched ten fire tenders immediately,” stated Atul Garg, Chief of Delhi Fire Services. Sarabjit Singh, Assistant Divisional Officer, confirmed that emergency responders quickly brought the fire under control. Fortunately, only one woman was injured after slipping while descending the stairs.

Fire Contained but Cause Unknown 

Videos shared on social media depicted towering plumes of smoke billowing from the restaurant, underscoring the intensity of the situation. As investigations into the cause of the fire continue, authorities have requested that business owners account for all individuals present during the incident. The Delhi Police have stated that while damage to ground-floor establishments was minimal, they are closely monitoring developments.

Eyewitness Ghanshyam Agarwal recounted how shopkeepers alerted emergency services upon noticing smoke around 2 PM.
