The Hockey Players participating at the Hockey India Senior Men’s Championships in Imphal are now satisfied with the facilities, reports ANI. They had complained initially over the lack of proper facilities.

Initially, the players were sleeping on the mattresses on the floor. They were not provided with blankets despite the cold climate. The report indicates that each player has now got proper blankets, heaters, good food, well-furnished rooms, and toilets.

Akshay, a player from Mumbai told ANI that it was difficult to adjust to the initial conditions. “Now everything seems alright. When we arrived there were fewer numbers of mattresses, now they have carpeted the floor and extra mattresses and blankets have been provided. There are geysers and room heaters as well and mineral water is there for drinking. Now the facilities being provided are satisfactory,” he added.

The Hockey players now say that Manipur Hockey authority was taking good care after they have complained. Elana Norman, the CEO of Hockey India said that the basic facilities of the players were their priority. “We have been here for a couple of days now. The state association and the state government have worked very hard to address some of the concerns of the players. I believe now that the players are quite satisfied with what is being provided to them,” he added.
