‘Suicide Bombing a Misunderstood Concept’: Spine-Chilling Video of Suspected Delhi Bomber Dr Umar Nabi Emerges

Emerging footage of the Red Fort bomber rationalising the attack highlights extremist mindset amid ongoing investigation.

A self-recorded video of Dr Umar un Nabi, accused suicide bomber in the November 10 2025 Delhi car blast, has emerged, where he justifies the attack as a “martyrdom operation,” claiming suicide bombing is a “misunderstood concept” in Islam.

The blast killed 15 people and injured over 20. Investigations reveal that Umar was radicalised and part of a sophisticated terror module that planned drone and rocket attacks but resorted to a car bomb after other plans failed.

Authorities have arrested multiple accomplices linked to Umar. The video sheds light on his extremist beliefs and reveals a concerted effort to recruit and justify violent militancy.

Delhi Car Blast Details

The blast occurred at 6:52 pm on a slow-moving traffic stretch near the Red Fort metro station in Delhi. The Hyundai i20 car bomb exploded after being parked near a mosque for over three hours, causing mass casualties and widespread fear.

CCTV footage tracked Umar’s movements through at least 40 cameras from Faridabad’s Al Falah University to various key Delhi locations days before the attack.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) uncovered plans to launch rocket and drone attacks resembling Hamas-style tactics, but after technical setbacks, Umar carried out the suicide bombing. Other suspects, including Amir Rashid Ali who procured the vehicle, and Jasir Bilal Wani who provided technical support, have been detained.

Radicalization & Video Confession

In the chilling video, Umar frames suicide bombing as a religious duty, a form of “martyrdom” rather than suicide. He defends the act as a misunderstood tactic within Islamic teachings and encourages others unwilling to participate to reconsider.

The video was recovered from his digital devices during investigation, alongside evidence of ongoing recruitment and training efforts. Officials say this footage provides rare insight into the psychological and ideological underpinnings of such attacks, emphasizing the challenge of countering extremist propaganda effectively.

Latest Updates in Investigation

Following the fatal car bomb explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort on November 10, 2025, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has made significant progress. Amir Rashid Ali, a resident of Kashmir, was arrested for conspiring with the alleged suicide bomber, Dr Umar un Nabi, and procuring the vehicle used in the attack.

Investigators revealed that Umar and his terror module initially planned drone and rocket attacks inspired by Hamas tactics but switched to a car bomb after those plans failed. DNA tests confirmed Umar as the driver of the explosive-laden Hyundai i20.

The NIA has examined over 70 witnesses and is working closely with multiple police agencies. Investigations uncovered a broader “white-collar terror network,” including several doctors and foreign handlers, linked to the bombing.

The vehicle and other evidence are being scrutinised, with raids ongoing across Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. Authorities are pursuing multiple leads to uncover the full extent of the conspiracy and those involved.
