Ministry of External Affairs has been very responsive in the social media. And a recent matter proves it well enough to comment so.

A 80 year old lady, Hawa Devi visited India in 2014 with her son and sister-in-law. She first visited Haridwar for pilgrimage and then went to Jodhpur to visit the family members on a month long visa authorization.

However, due to the unfortunate circumstances, she failed to return back to Pakistan. Owing to some procedural glitches, she got stuck in Jodhpur after the officials neither granted the permission for departure nor refused.

Meanwhile, her visa expired and she got stuck in India for over a year and half, only after which the media covered the incident and Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj promised to help after seeing that.

The local Foreign Regional Registration Officer, took the matter and but couldn’t really help pertaining to the lack of permission from State’s home Government.

Finally, Sushma Swaraj handled the rope by getting details on the issue from Hindu Singh Sodha, President of the Seemant Lok Sangthan and made the return of Hawa Devi to her nation possible.

Hawa Devi boarded the Thar Express on 15 january, 2015 to return back to Pakistan.

“I am thankful to all, who made it possible. Had it been in time, I would have seen my grandson, who passed away a few months back,” she said to the Times of India.

The Logical Indian Community appreciates the laudable efforts from MEA which eventually reunited Hawa Devi with her family.
