About Deeba Faryal

Deeba Faryal hails from Ranchi, Jharkhand, and is not only an intrepid cancer fighter but also a dedicated legal educator and career counsellor. She completed her law degree with distinction from Savitribai Phule Pune University and pursued her Master’s in Constitutional Law from Dr. K. N. Modi University, where she excelled academically. With over four years of experience in legal education, Deeba has mentored more than 10,000 students in preparing for competitive law entrance exams like CLAT and AILET. Her commitment to empowering aspiring lawyers reflects her belief in the transformative power of education, even as she navigates her own health challenges.

A Battle Against Cancer

Deeba’s fight against cancer began during her second year of law school when she was diagnosed with a rare form of soft tissue sarcoma. Initially, her prognosis was grim, with a survival rate of just 5%. However, she faced her diagnosis with unwavering determination and a bright smile that could light up any room. Supported by her loving family and friends, she underwent treatment and emerged victorious from her first battle.

Unfortunately, just months later, Deeba faced a recurrence of the disease. This time, doctors estimated her survival rate at 70%. In her own words, she shared: “When cancer got diagnosed the first time my survival rate was just 5% but with all your blessings, prayer, and love I fought my cancer back… Now this is the third time it relapsed and now the survival rate has increased to 70% according to the doctors.”

This increase symbolised her fighting spirit and the love surrounding her. Each setback only fueled her resolve to keep going.

The Power of Friendship

One of the most touching aspects of Deeba’s journey is the unwavering support from her friends. The surprise visit from her friend on what should have been one of the happiest days of their lives—her wedding day—exemplifies this bond. In that moment, Deeba felt an overwhelming sense of love and joy that transformed her heartache into a cherished memory. This beautiful act highlighted a profound truth: true friendship is not merely about being present for every significant event; it’s about showing up when it matters most.
