Hockey Madhya Bharat breaks Guinness Book of World Record

Hockey Madhya Bharat hosted a rare event of ‘Juggling a hockey ball’ last month and they successfully broke the world record. To mark the occasion of our 68th Republic Day, the association of Hockey Madhya Bharat hosted this incredible yet possible event involving close to 1000 players and their objective was to juggle a hockey ball on their sticks for 30 seconds.

742 players of the 950 had successfully kept the ball in the air for 30 seconds before entering the Guinness Book of World Records. They broke the record of United Kingdom where the event was held with only 250 participants.

This event was held at the LNIPE Hockey stadium in Gwalior under the watchful eyes of Dr. Brij Kishore Prasad, Assistant professor at the LNIPE and Mr.Devendra Pratap Singh Tomar, Associate Vice-President Hockey-India and the President for Madhya Pradesh Hockey Association. According to the players, they have spent an entire year to make this even a world record.

This initiative was carried out in order to market the sport and encourage more and more youngsters into picking up the hockey stick. Previously the International Hockey Federation has launched a 10-year Hockey revolution strategy which helps the game to achieve a global recognition and this event certainly falls in this category.
