Rarely does one come across people, who go beyond their line of duty to ensure safety and protection of others. Even as the countless instances of abuse and sexual harassment have been plaguing societies across the world, especially India, people like Santosh and their deeds restore our faith in humanity and mankind in general.
A kind gesture
A sharp turn from customer tweets, accusing cab drivers of harassment and mistreatment, Priyashmita Guha, an Uber customer tweeted about her experience with Santosh, an Uber cab driver. In a tweet, she tagged Uber India and narrated her experience. She said that in the wee hours, Santosh had dropped off Guha and her mother at their destination. However, the gate of the place where the duo was staying was shut. It was 1 AM in the morning, and Santosh, instead of abandoning the two women in the middle of the night, decided to go the extra mile.
hey @Uber_India , wanted to tell you about your driver Santosh. Last night the place we were staying had it’s gate was closed. It was 1 AM. He refused to let us go & waited for 1.5 hours till we got in. Kudos to him. Mom and I eternally grateful pic.twitter.com/tIjz9n2A8O

The driver waited for one and a half hours till the gate was opened and the women went inside. While replying to another Twitter user, she said that the driver even refused to accept another rider and insisted upon waiting with the two women.
Uber’s response
Guha’s tweet received an overwhelming response as a number of people came out in support of the driver and appreciated his efforts. Uber’s twitter handle replied to Guha’s tweet where the cab-hailing company said, “The ability to truly go the extra mile and cater to one another in tough times is something that we are proud to recognize in #uberstar Santosh. Thanks for sharing. You made us smile, ear to ear!”

Santosh’s gesture shows that while humanity seems to be slipping away into the darkness, it’s not completely wiped off, just yet! The Logical Indian community appreciates his deed and wishes that more people act in such a responsible manner.
