Haryana: Man Married Rape Survivor, Enrolls Her In Law Course To Seek Justice

Setting a stellar example
Haryana has a bad reputation because of the growing number of sexual violence cases in the state. However, 29-year-old Jitender Chhatar, a farmer from Jind has set a great precedent breaking all stereotypes. The interesting fact is not that Jitender has married a woman, who is a gang-rape victim, but he has also enrolled his wife in a law education course so that she can seek justice for herself and help other such victims of sexual offences. Together they have also started a platform called Youth Against Rape.

Irrespective of what society thinks
Jitender is happily married with her since December 4. His future wife had advised her of reconsidering the decision before marriage because she know he will have to face a lot of pressure from the society. However, Jitender had already made up his mind. Jitender is now trying to seek an intervention from Haryana’s Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to secure the arrest of one of the four persons accused of raping his wife.

The Logical Indian salutes Jitender for marrying a rape survivor and fighting for her cause. Your story will be able to inspire a whole generation.
