UP: BJP MLA Delays Meeting To Help Save A Family Severely Injured In A Road Accident

A BJP MLA from Etah’ Sardar constituency, Vipin Kumar David, helped save a Muslim family that was grievously injured in a road accident on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway.

The Uttar Pradesh MLA was on his way to Vidhan Sabha, Lucknow from Agra when we saw that a crowd had surrounded an overturned car in the middle of the road. He was on his way to a scheduled meeting and delayed it for more than three hours to help the wounded family. He even ushered the, in an ambulance to Lucknow KGMU trauma centre.

Monday’s incident took place near Aliyarpur Palikhana village of Hasanganj police, Unnao district. The family’s car allegedly collided into a divider and turned turtle. One of the family members, a woman named Rukshana, was killed on spot, while four others were severely injured.

“It was shocking that people were standing near the victims, but none came to help them. Instead, they kept on dialling to emergency services. I took my guard and driver along with me and went down the roadside. We covered the injured with some pieces of clothes. We gave them water and tried to keep them in a conscious state,” said MLA David to The Times of India.

He added that the dial 100 PVR (police response vehicle) took 45 minutes to reach the incident and the local people had called for assistance long before he arrived. The family was put in the ambulance while another vehicle escorted them to Lucknow’s KGMU trauma centre.

“For me they were just humans. It does not matter to me whether they were Muslims or Hindus. As a human being, it was my duty to save their lives and that’s what I did and everyone should do in such situations,” the MLA said.

He raised the issue of delayed response of emergency services and the unavailability of ambulance on the expressway.

Additional director-general of police Anil Agrawal, head of the dial 100 services said, “We are looking into the matter and will share the further details on the MLA’s accusation soon.”

The Logical Indian community commends the MLA’s efforts to save the family. Accidents on highways are common and not many stop to help the victims. It is inspiring to see Vipin Kumar David come to the aid and also escort the injured to the hospital. He also raised important issues of road safety and lack of emergency vans in highways. We hope that if is accusations are, in fact, true, the situation improves.
