Certain incidents rekindle our faith in the humanitarian spirit, and this is one of them. Setting an example in religious tolerance, the land belonging to the Hanumangarhi temple trust was given for the building of the 300-year-old dilapidated mosque-Babri Masjid whose demolition had caused communal strife across India.

The decision was taken days after a local civic body labeled the Alamgiri Masjid ‘hazardous’ and posted a notice banning entry into the building. The Hanumangarhi temple trust, which is in possession of the Masjid land, not only allowed its reconstruction and agreed to bear the cost but also welcomed Muslims to offer namaz on the premises.

“I asked our Muslim brothers to renovate and reconstruct the masjid on our expense and also issued no objection certificate for Muslims to offer namaz as this is also a `Khuda Ka Ghar’,” Mahant Gyan Das told blogspot.

“I am also extending support for the renovation of a mausoleum on the premises which is as old as the masjid,” added Gyan Das, who has been holding iftar for Ayodhya Muslims during Ramzan.

It is a beautiful example of unity in diversity and should motivate people across the country to take such steps. The Logical Indian, though appreciates the intention behind the action, believes that the use of the land should have been for building a school where children of all religions would study and practice religious tolerance.
