A Tribute To The #HeroesAtMyGate

“Ramesh, bring my package upstairs.”

“Can you take my food delivery?”

“Don’t let the kids play near my new car.”

Majority of the times, these are the only conversations we have with our security guards. An occasional ‘hello’ or a curt ‘thank you’ while we are waiting for the elevator.

Often, we turn a blind eye towards them, but, little do we realize how important they are in ensuring our safety. They welcome our guests, question strangers, perform safety checks on vehicles, and of course, man the gates 24X7 while we sleep.

It is time we acknowledge these security superheroes as an integral part of our lives. Let’s make an effort to befriend them and ask about their families; help them if they need it or just share a smile to make them feel welcomed. It’s time we treat them an important part of our society.

myGate is inviting residents to nominate the heroes at their gates who have made a difference to their lives.Come, share your story with us.

Here is how you can nominate:

Step 1: Click here to nominate your security guard/s.

Step 2: Upload a selfie with him/her.

Step 3: Tell us about a special experience you have had with them.

The top 3 stories will be chosen by us and the guards being spoken of in the stories will be receiving cash rewards worth Rs 10000, Rs 7500 and Rs 5000 respectively. The deadline for nominations is February 5, 2019. Give your hero a chance to win!

myGate salutes the efforts of the heroes at the gate.

The video by myGate beautifully depicts the untold story of “heroes at my gate”, whom “we know, but do not recognise.”

Security guards perhaps are one of the most overworked and underpaid sections of the working class in India. However, their situation will change only when we, the people, start acknowledging their hard work and extend a hand of friendship to them. It is time to stand beside these superheroes in uniforms and do something to uplift those, whose life revolves around taking care of us.
