Bengaluru: To Curb The Increasing Amount Of Garbage, Smart Bins Being Introduced In The City

Smart bins being introduced in Bengaluru for the first time as a pilot project . The concept here is the bins are half inside the ground and half outside. There are trucks mounted with a heavy duty crane and container to collect waste, this container will open and close hydraulically so that no waste is seen . This truck will come and lift the bins and unload inside the container and put the bin back inside . Initially, the bins will be manned , subsequently, it will have sensors to alert once they are full. The bins are not a replacement for the house to house collection, house to house collection of segregated waste is mandatory. The bins will come in areas having large no. of moving population, public places like bus stops, tourist places etc .

This is a new initiative by our Hon’ble minister for Bangalore city Development, Mr. KJ George . The bins are already functional in 12 places across the city, more will be added soon depending on the need.

This is a great initiative especially in Bangalore, where the amount of garbage is increasing at an exponential rate. We appreciate Mr. K J George for taking this initiative.
