As Appeals Of Bengaluru Residents Failed To Move BBMP, City Residents Worship Potholes

Residents of HSR Layout in Bengaluru resorted to heavy sarcasm to draw the attention of the civic authorities. On Saturday, many of the locals had hit the streets and began a unique demonstration of ‘Pothole Puja’ — performing puja (worshipping) of potholes.

After several attempts to urge the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP: Bengaluru’s civic body) to repair the roads in the area went into vain, the residents took up mockery in the form of performing puja on potholes, reported Bangalore Mirror. Earlier, the residents themselves fixed potholes in their locality, but they felt that their cause was not getting due recognition as the civic authorities had turned a deaf ear to their calls for mending the potholes. So around 40 residents were “worshipping the failures of the civic body.”

One of the residents told Bangalore Mirror that the puja was being performed to ensure that motorists do not get killed by the potholes. The entire stretch of HSR Layout has developed numerous potholes and as a result of monsoon, those are turning out to be worse. The residents hope that this mockery and shaming the BBMP would actually bring about some action from the BBMP’s side.
