A problem created by science can also be eliminated by it. Plastic wastes are now a global problem. Plastics being non-degradable can remain intact for thousands of years, so earth. Good news is an Egyptian teen has come up with ingenious solution to make fuel out of plastic.

Azza Faid, a 17-year-old teen, has impressed Egyptian Petroleum Research Institute with her idea and they allowed her to research there. Azza worked on plastic conversion agent and found catalyst called alluminisilicate that drastically reduces the cost of converting the plastic waste into gases like methane and propane. The by-product of the process is some other chemicals that can also be recycled and sold.

Egypt produces a million tons of plastic every year and if converted that trash into fuel will worth $78million every year. In fact Azza’s process could make $163 million in total each year from trash.
If it replicated around world numbers will be staggering.

The European Union Contest for Young Scientists has already honored Faiad with a prize for her work and she is now working on a patent for her trash to fuel process.

Young minds with creative ideas can change the course of the world for better and bring the solutions to current problems and future ones. Kudos to Azza, for showing the world science community a way forward, and inspiring other young scientists around the globe.
