India’s junior men’s hockey team secured a thrilling 5-3 victory against Pakistan in the final of the Men’s Junior Asia Cup 2024, held in Muscat, Oman, on December 4. This win marks India’s fifth title in the tournament’s history, reinforcing their status as the most successful team in the competition. Araijeet Singh Hundal was the standout player, scoring four goals, while Dilraj Singh added another. The match was characterized by intense competition, with both teams exchanging leads before India ultimately triumphed.

The final began with Pakistan taking an early lead through Hannan Shahid’s goal in the third minute. However, India responded almost immediately, with Araijeet Singh Hundal converting a penalty corner just 30 seconds later to equalise. The match saw a rollercoaster of emotions as both teams fought hard; Pakistan’s Sufyan Khan scored twice to keep his team competitive. Yet, it was Hundal’s exceptional performance that shone through, as he netted four goals, including two critical strikes in the final quarter that sealed India’s victory.
