The story of 21-year-old Aanchal Mamidwar has gripped Maharashtra ever since she reportedly married the corpse of her boyfriend Saksham Tate, who was allegedly killed.
The woman has now made explosive allegations. She claims two officers from the Itwara police station may have played a role in the crime. Saksham was allegedly killed by Aanchal’s brother, Himesh, amid rising caste tensions.
Her father and both brothers are already under arrest, while Superintendent of Police Abinash Kumar has confirmed that an Additional SP is now probing her accusations.
Maharashtra Caste Murder Shocking Twist
Saksham Tate, aged 20, was allegedly shot and fatally assaulted with a tile by Himesh Mamidwar on November 28 in Nanded’s Old Ganj locality. The alleged murder followed months of threats to Saksham over caste-based disapproval of his relationship with Aanchal, who belongs to a higher caste.
On the morning of the murder, Himesh allegedly took Aanchal to the police station seeking her to file false complaints against Saksham, which she refused.
She alleges two police officials provoked her brother to kill rather than mediate, saying “Instead of making false cases, why don’t you actually kill him.” This statement allegedly incited Himesh to act violently.
How the Alleged Murder Took Place
Saksham, 20, was reportedly standing with friends in Nanded’s old Ganj area on Thursday evening when a confrontation erupted between him and Aanchal’s brother, Himesh Mamidwar.
In the chaos, Himesh allegedly shot Saksham, the bullet piercing his ribs. Moments later, he is allegedly smashed a tile or stone on Saksham’s head, killing him instantly. Police arrested Himesh, his brother Sahil, and their father Gajanan soon after the incident.
In total, six people have been booked under charges of murder, rioting, provisions of the Arms Act, and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act as the investigation continues.
