In a disturbing case that has rattled the small village of Sakaria in Anuppur district, Madhya Pradesh, 60-year-old Bhaiyalal Rajak was brutally murdered and his body dumped in a well.

This incident, emerging from complex family turbulence and illicit relationships, has drawn attention to underlying social issues of domestic strife and betrayal within close-knit communities.

Brutal Murder and Arrests

Bhaiyalal’s body was discovered on August 31 after his second wife, Guddi Bai, noticed something floating in the village well. The body was tightly wrapped in sacks and blankets and bound with ropes and sarees. Police quickly identified it as Bhaiyalal’s and launched an investigation.

Within 36 hours, the Kotwali police arrested three suspects: his third wife Munni (also known as Vimla Rajak), her lover Narayan Das Kushwaha (Lallu), and a labourer named Dheeraj Kol.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Moti Ur Rehman disclosed that the murder involved a violent attack with an iron rod inflicted while Bhaiyalal was asleep in his under-construction home on the night of August 30. The postmortem report confirmed the cause of death as severe head trauma.

A Tale of Family Conflict and Infidelity

The case exposes a tangled web of personal and familial discord. Bhaiyalal had been married three times; his first wife had left him, and his second wife, Guddi Bai, was childless. In an unusual family arrangement, Bhaiyalal married Guddi’s younger sister Munni, with whom he had two children.

However, Munni’s alleged illicit affair with Narayan Das Kushwaha, a local property dealer, intensified marital tensions. Police reports state that this affair turned deadly when Munni conspired with her lover and recruited labourer Dheeraj to commit the murder. The calculated attack was aimed at clearing the path for their relationship, disregarding the impact on Bhaiyalal’s family and community.

Investigation and Community Reaction

The village has been left shaken by the chilling revelations. The recovery of Bhaiyalal’s mobile phone from the well played a significant role in tracking timelines and corroborating police findings. Local residents expressed shock and disbelief at how private family disputes escalated into such a grim outcome.

The police, however, swiftly cracked the case within days, bringing the accused to justice and reassuring the community that such a crime would not go unpunished.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

This tragic incident underscores the repercussions of unresolved familial conflicts when trust and communication break down. It is a stark reminder that beneath many domestic situations may lie silent struggles and complex emotional dynamics.

The Logical Indian emphasises the need for accessible conflict resolution resources, counselling, and community support systems that can help families navigate disputes peacefully. Encouraging empathy, dialogue, and intervention before conflicts turn violent is vital for societal harmony.
