A 31-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly assaulting a female home guard near Bengaluru’s KR Puram Railway Station on Friday, 9 January 2026, according to Karnataka Portfolio.

The victim, Lakshmi Narasamma, had reportedly intervened after noticing a group of miscreants harassing the accused, identified as Mohini (alias Damini), due to her attire, Karnataka Portfolio reported. After shooing away the teasers, Narasamma advised Mohini to be cautious and wear “decent clothes” for her own safety in the congested area.

This sparked a violent reaction. Mohini reportedly grabbed the officer by the hair, slapped her, and used the officer’s own baton to strike her, causing bleeding injuries to her face and nose. The accused has been remanded to judicial custody.

Cause of Alleged Attack?

Reports suggest that the female home guard advised the woman to be mindful of her attire for her safety which reportedly angered the woman. The Police, however, noted that the female home guard ‘informed the individuals not to stop on the road.’

The KR Puram Railway Station Circle is one of the busiest and most crowded junctions in Silicon City, requiring constant surveillance by traffic and home guard personnel. Lakshmi Narasamma was managing the heavy afternoon flow when she spotted Mohini being targeted with lewd comments by local youths.

Following standard protocol to prevent an escalation of harassment, the home guard cleared the area. However, the subsequent interaction between the officer and the pedestrian highlighted a deep societal friction.

What Narasamma intended as “safety counselling” was interpreted by Mohini as an intrusive act of moral policing, leading to a public outburst that quickly turned physical.

Violent Retaliation

Witnesses and viral video footage show a brutal scene where the accused allegedly dragged the home guard by the hair and struck her repeatedly with a baton snatched during the scuffle.

Mohini, a BBM graduate who reportedly worked for a private firm and had previously studied in the Maldives, was apprehended by bystanders and handed over to the police.

She faces multiple charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including obstructing a public servant from discharging their duty and criminal intimidation.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

At The Logical Indian, we believe that while every individual has the absolute right to dress according to their choice without fear of harassment, violence against a public servant is a grave violation of the law.

This incident brings to light the complex tension between traditional safety warnings and personal agency in a modern urban landscape. While the home guard’s intent was protective, the explosive reaction suggests a growing intolerance toward unsolicited advice on personal conduct.

We must advocate for a society where disputes are settled with dialogue, and where law enforcement is trained to offer safety tips without infringing upon an individual’s sense of dignity.
