YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as “Beer Biceps,” has issued a public statement after facing backlash over controversial remarks made on the YouTube show India’s Got Latent. He apologized for his comments, confirmed his cooperation with authorities, and claimed to have received death threats following the incident. Allahbadia expressed concerns about his safety and that of his family, stating that individuals had allegedly invaded his mother’s clinic under false pretenses.

While law enforcement agencies have not issued an official statement on the threats, the Assam Police has summoned Allahbadia and other influencers linked to the episode, and the Maharashtra government has ordered an inquiry into the matter. Mumbai Police stated that they were unable to get in touch with Ranveer Allahbadia as his phone was switched off, his house was locked, and his lawyer was also unreachable. However, Allahbadia stated that he is not hiding.

“Insensitive” Comments Spark Public Outrage

Allahbadia’s remarks during an episode of India’s Got Latent were widely criticized, leading to multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) being filed against him. Addressing the controversy, he took to social media, stating:

“My team and I are cooperating with the police and all other authorities. I will follow due process and be available to all agencies. My remark about parents was insensitive and disrespectful. It is my moral responsibility to do better, and I am genuinely sorry.”

He further added:

“I’m watching death threats pour in from people saying they want to kill me and hurt my family. People have invaded my mother’s clinic posing as patients. I’m feeling scared, and I don’t know what to do. But I’m not running away. I have full faith in the police and the judicial system of India.”

Legal Proceedings and Government Scrutiny

The Supreme Court of India has scheduled a hearing regarding the multiple FIRs filed against Allahbadia, but declined an urgent hearing. The hearing will take place in two to three days. Meanwhile, the Maharashtra Cyber Police and Assam Police are conducting separate investigations, with the scope reportedly extending to other individuals associated with the controversial episode. Statements have been recorded from eight individuals, including Apoorva Mukhija and Ashish Chanchlani.

In response to public complaints about the show’s content, Maharashtra’s cultural department has been directed to conduct a formal inquiry. Minister Ashish Shelar ordered the inquiry after complaints about vulgarity in India’s Got Latent, which is running without proper permission. The National Commission for Women (NCW) has also taken cognizance of the issue and has scheduled a hearing for February 17, 2025. Allahabadia has requested that the producers of India’s Got Latent remove the “insensitive sections” from the episode in which his comments were made.
