The film was based on a novel penned by the famed writer Saadat Hasan Manto. Saadat Hasan Manto is an Indo-Pakistani writer who had penned many short stories, novels, radio plays, and essays. Most of his writings chronicled the sad narratives of the partition of India in 1947. His writings reflected the socio-political fabric of the time.

The farmer’s issue, the issues they face is relevant till date. ‘Kisan Kanya’ despite fairing average in the box office, remains a path-breaking movie for its leap in technology and how it set the trend for various innovations in the cine industry.
