Madan Mohan Malaviya
He was an Indian educationist, a politician notable for his role in the Indian independence movement. He was the president of Indian National Congress for four times. He was respectfully addressed as Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya. Malaviya is the founder of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) at Varanasi in 1916. It is the largest residential university in Asia with many thousands of students pursuing education in various streams of arts and science. It is worth while noting that Malaviya was Vice Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University from 1919–1938.

Some of the notable achievements includes

1.) One of the founders of Scouting in India

2.) Founded a highly influential, English-newspaper, The Leader published from Allahabad in 1909.

3.) He was the Chairman of Hindustan Times from 1924 to 1946.

4.) He had coined the term “Sathyamev Jayatey” (Truth Alone Triumphs) and envisioned it become the slogan for the nation.

Malaviya was posthumously conferred with Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award, on 24 December 2014, a day before his 153rd Birth Anniversary.

Sir Syed Ahmed Khan He was one of those early pioneers who recognized the critical role of education in the empowerment of the poor and backward Muslim community. In more than one ways, Sir Syed was one of the greatest social reformers and a great national builder of modern India. He began to prepare the road map for the formation of a Muslim University. He instituted Scientific Society in 1863 to instill a scientific temperament into the Muslims and to make the Western knowledge available to Indians in their own language. Sir Syed had rightly been named by many historians as one of the makers of modern India. He had an unflinching faith in education and its role in reforming societies Despite the huge number of accolades and recognition, his innumerable literary works, innumerable contributions to literature in Urdu, criticism persists over the fact that Sir Syed chose to support the British during 1857 revolt despite Muslims over whelmingly particiapting in the freedom struggle.

The Logical Indian thanks the two stalwarts for prioritizing education over politics and putting a lot of effort in establishing the Benaras Hindu University and Aligargh Muslim University. Both have a become pillars of modern education in India. It is always true, the emancipation of education to the masses will serve a long way in bringing about communal harmony.
