I wish to Bring to your notice a very important fact , regarding origin of Chipko Movement History of Chipko Movement Started During 1971-1972 in Chamoli Dist of Garhwal Uttrakhand(now) earlier U.P. , which has been distorted by documenting incorrectly/wrongly and real origin got lost sight of . Infact I was the reason, as divisional forest officer in that area, during that period and I had to check pilfrerage of green trees by Locals as part of my duty. This action of mine metamorpohosed into Chipko Movement to stop complete felling as a revenge. These factual details I nwould place before the World in order to correct the History of this Movement. I am a retd Indian Forest Officer, retired as Head of the UP Forest Department in 1996.
