In a heart-wrenching incident that has shocked Rajasthan and the nation, a newborn baby girl around 15 to 20 days old was found abandoned in the Bobhilwara forest near Mandalgarh in Bhilwara district. The infant was discovered by a local cattle herder near the Sita Ka Kund temple, lying amidst a pile of stones, her lips sealed shut with a strong adhesive and a stone stuffed inside her mouth to prevent her cries from being heard.

Medical examination revealed burn marks on her thigh in addition to adhesive injuries around the lips. The herder’s quick action ensured that villagers could remove the stone and immediately rush her to the government hospital in Bijolia before she was transferred to a specialised medical centre in Bhilwara for further treatment. Doctors confirmed that despite the severe trauma, the infant was now stable and receiving comprehensive care.

Medical and Official Response

The hospital authorities expressed astonishment at the infant’s survival, calling it nothing short of a miracle given the severity of the injuries inflicted on the tiny child. A medical official involved in her treatment stated, “The baby’s fragile body bore evidence of deliberate attempts to silence and harm her, but she has fought through the odds.” Police have registered an FIR and launched an extensive investigation into the case.

Authorities are actively tracing the child’s origin by reviewing hospital birth records, canvassing local villages to identify possible relatives, and scrutinising CCTV footage from nearby areas to gather any leads on those responsible. Police officials have described the act as “inhumane and cruel” and assured strict legal action against the perpetrators once identified.

Social and Legal Implications

This incident has reignited debates and concerns regarding child welfare, safety, and the prevalent societal prejudices that sometimes lead to such brutal acts. Child rights activists and the Rajasthan State Commission for Protection of Child Rights have condemned the act, calling for heightened vigilance and systematic efforts to curb child abuse.

The brutal manner in which the child was silenced reflects deep-rooted issues of gender bias and societal neglect that continue to plague many regions. The police investigation is being closely monitored to ensure accountability, and there is mounting demand from civil society for the government to strengthen child protection policies and improve awareness and intervention mechanisms at the grassroots level.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

The abandonment and torture of an infant is an unconscionable tragedy that should compel society to confront uncomfortable truths about the lives of vulnerable children. While the baby’s survival offers a rare light of hope, the cruelty inflicted demands urgent action-from communities, law enforcement, and policymakers alike-to protect every child’s right to life, safety, and dignity.

At The Logical Indian, we uphold values of empathy, dialogue, and coexistence, believing these are essential to dismantling the cycles of violence and neglect that persist in society. Our collective responsibility must be to nurture environments where no child is ever subjected to such brutality.
