A 40-year-old man, Jagdish Mallikarjun Sutar, was arrested in Pune’s Kondhwa area on Wednesday night for allegedly molesting his minor daughter over the past three months. The girl told her relatives about the abuse, prompting them to alert the police.

Sutar was taken into custody and charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The child is now safe and receiving support while investigations continue.

Swift Police Action and Survivor Protection

The molestation came to light when the young girl confided in her relatives that her father had been inappropriately touching her chest and private areas for several months. Upon receiving this revelation, the family promptly approached the Kondhwa police station, which led to the immediate arrest of Jagdish Mallikarjun Sutar.

A senior officer said the police arranged for the child’s safety through counselling and medical care while remanding the accused to judicial custody. The authorities stressed that swift intervention was crucial in protecting the survivor and pursuing justice.

Disturbing Background and Immediate Aftermath

The case highlights the grim reality of abuse that often occurs behind closed doors, invisible to neighbours and community members. The victim’s courage to speak out played a pivotal role in halting the abuse. Police investigations are ongoing to trace any further evidence and to establish the complete timeline of the accused’s misconduct.

This case also raises broader concerns about child safety within homes and the necessity of awareness, vigilance, and accessible reporting mechanisms for abuse victims.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

Incidents of child sexual abuse within families are among the most harrowing challenges faced by society. They expose deep flaws in our collective responsibility to protect the vulnerable. The Logical Indian urges the community to foster environments where children feel safe to voice their fears, and families commit to zero tolerance for any abuse.

Compassionate, prompt action combined with strong laws like the POCSO Act is vital to uphold justice.
