Chandra Siwakoti Sharma of Dimow village under Dhemaji district in Assam has succeeded to build a “Helicopter”.

It took class-3 pass, Chandra Siwakoti Sharma, three years to complete his dream project with local technology. He worked in a closed room in the last three years assisted by his wife Jonmony Mayank.

Sharma, a welder by profession, made public of about his doing so after completion of 90 per cent of the aircraft. Sharma has so far spent more than Rs 15 lakhs for his helicopter. He also said that his dream would not have come true if he was not assisted financially by his friend Toopan Gimere.

“Necessity is the mother of invention and, this time, the necessity to connect with the world during floods and connect Shyamjuli, a village 450km with the main city Guwahati. The name of the helicopter is Pawan Putra, a sort of a “Jugaad”.

The helicopter can fly, though not as fast as the ones in operation for civil or military duty. It can easily move at 50kmph. He is awaiting for response for clearance.

The Logical Indian appreciates Chandra for his efforts and at the same time hopes that he gets govt. assistance, so that he can have a formal knowledge of Engineering and he improves his skill.
