A holiday trip to Uttarakhand ended in tragedy after 27-year-old software engineer P. Radha Gayatri from Gurugram was found dead inside a homestay room near Mussoorie on June 16.

Gayatri, who had travelled with her husband, Soumya Sricharan, was discovered unconscious with blood reportedly coming from her nose and mouth. Police have launched an investigation, questioned the husband and homestay staff, and collected forensic evidence from the room.

Authorities say the exact cause of death remains unknown and will depend on findings from a videographed post-mortem examination and forensic analysis.

While no complaint has been filed by the family so far, investigators maintain that all possibilities remain open and have urged the public to avoid speculation until official reports are available.

Holiday Turns Into Mystery

According to police, Gayatri and Sricharan, both originally from Visakhapatnam and married in November 2025, left Delhi for Uttarakhand on June 13. The couple reportedly spent time in Rishikesh before checking into a homestay in the Tipridhar area along the Mussoorie-Dhanolti road on the night of June 14. They were staying in a room named “Bliss”.

During preliminary questioning, Sricharan told investigators that the couple consumed alcohol and went to sleep around 3.30 am. He later woke up to find his wife lying unconscious on the floor.

He allegedly noticed blood coming from her nose and mouth and immediately informed the homestay management, which contacted emergency services and police. A 108 ambulance team reached the property, but Gayatri was declared dead at the scene.

As part of the investigation, police recovered bloodstains from inside the room, including on a bedsheet. Two empty liquor bottles and food items were also found. A forensic team examined the room and collected samples for further analysis. Officials have not publicly indicated whether any signs of physical violence, poisoning or foul play were detected during the initial inspection.

Speaking to reporters, police officials said it would be premature to draw conclusions before medical and forensic findings are received. They reiterated that the investigation remains open and evidence-based.

Forensic Reports Hold Key

Investigators believe the post-mortem and forensic examinations will be crucial in determining what transpired during Gayatri’s final hours. Her body was sent to Coronation Hospital in Dehradun, where authorities ordered a detailed autopsy to be conducted by a panel of doctors.

The procedure was also directed to be videographed, a step often taken in sensitive or unexplained death cases to ensure transparency and preserve evidence.

Police have continued questioning Sricharan and members of the homestay staff to establish a clear timeline of events. Investigators are reportedly reviewing witness accounts, travel details and evidence collected from the room. However, officials have clarified that no arrests have been made and no criminal charges have been filed at this stage.

Gayatri’s family was informed about the incident and travelled from Visakhapatnam to Uttarakhand following the news. Police said that, as of the latest update, the family had not lodged a formal complaint.

The case has nevertheless attracted widespread attention because of the unanswered questions surrounding the death of a young professional during what was meant to be a leisure trip. Authorities have emphasised that speculation should be avoided until the scientific and medical reports are completed, as the cause of death remains undetermined.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

The death of a young woman under unexplained circumstances is a deeply distressing event that affects not only her loved ones but also the wider community seeking answers. Cases such as this highlight the importance of allowing investigations to proceed fairly, transparently and without prejudice. In an era of instant reactions and social media speculation, it is essential to rely on verified facts rather than assumptions, particularly when the cause of death has not yet been established.
