Hardly a year after terrorists stormed the Charlie Hebdo office, Paris is under attack again. This time, the attack was more widespread, involving at least 4 different sites. At least 140 people have been killed. France has declared a state of Emergency and has closed its national borders.
At least 100 people died at the Bataclan concert hall in central Paris. Gunmen took many hostages before the police overpowered them.
Other venues in Paris were attacked by suicide bombers and gunmen. The President of France – who has been evacuated to an unknown location – has asked Parisians to stay indoors. The Mayor of Paris has asked the people of Paris to be alert and maintain calm in case of a second wave of attacks.
While details of the attacks are still obscure, what reporters have confirmed is that the attacks appear pre-planned to target places with crowds on a Friday.
World leaders have taken to social media to condemn the attacks. On Twitter, PM Modi said ‘News from Paris is anguishing & dreadful’
News from Paris is anguishing & dreadful. Prayers with families of the deceased. We are united with people of France in this tragic hour.

Speaking to reporters at the White House, US President Obama said he would not speculate about who was responsible.
He called the attacks a “heartbreaking situation” and an “attack on all of humanity.”
British Prime Minister David Cameron tweeted he was “shocked” by the brazen attacks.
I am shocked by events in Paris tonight. Our thoughts and prayers are with the French people. We will do whatever we can to help.

The Logical Indian community stands in solidarity with the people of Paris and prays that the situation is brought under control as soon as possible and those responsible brought to justice.
