At least 15 people were killed and around 20 others injured after a passenger bus rolled down a hill near Kagort village in the Ramnagar area of Udhampur district in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday morning. Officials said the accident occurred around 10 am while the bus was negotiating a blind curve on the hilly Ramnagar–Udhampur road.
Local residents rushed to the site and began rescuing trapped passengers before police and emergency teams arrived. Authorities confirmed that 15 bodies were recovered from the wreckage and the injured were taken to nearby hospitals, with several reported to be in serious condition.
Union minister Jitendra Singh said he had spoken to district officials and that rescue operations were underway, with arrangements being made to airlift critically injured passengers for urgent medical care.

“The rescue operation has been immediately undertaken. Heavy casualties are expected. All possible assistance is being provided,” Singh said, adding that arrangements were being made to shift the injured for medical treatment and to airlift those in critical condition if necessary. He also said he remained in constant touch with the district administration and local teams assisting in the rescue operation.
