Vasu’s Only Fault Was That He Tried To Help A Girl Forced Into An Abusive Marriage

Crime has no gender and no bias. Acid attacks have ruined many lives and shattered many souls in India, this has been considered a crime against women but this case will shatter that myth.
Vasu hails from a small village called Proddatur in Andhra Pradesh. One can never explain why bad things happen to good people and Vasu’s case is a prime example of just that.

Vasu’s only fault was that he tried to help one of his batch mates who was forced into an abusive marriage. He would counsel her and try to help her through her ordeal when even her own family refused to help her.

The girl Vasu was trying to help was in a bad situation and was almost giving up on life and Vasu tried to help her move past her ordeal. On numerous occasions, he was warned not to help the girl by the girl’s own family but he still decided to help her. In return for his good will, he was then attacked with acid by the girl’s family.

Vasu and his younger sister are orphans and before the attack, his sister was happily married to someone in the village itself. After the attack, the sister’s husband threw her out of the house fearing social stigma and got remarried. Vasu’s sister is the only one who takes care of him now. Since he was blinded in the attack, he is now dependent on her low income in order to survive.
Till date, Vasu hasn’t so much as filed an FIR against them in order to protect the girl.

8 years later Vasu needs medical care that he had never been given before. He has no help and in an acid attack case, the situation turns worse with time, the victim always needs surgery after few months but what gets expensive is the daily dressing, legal battle, and financial struggle.
