Sub Inspector from Kashmir was killed in a cold-blooded murder by terrorists on October 28 in militancy-infested Pulwama district of South Kashmir. Sub Inspector Mir Imtiaz was killed while he was on the way to his home.

Imtiaz was well aware of the fact that his life suffered a threat from militants who had laid a death trap from him. He even shaved off his beard before heading out, hoping that he would not be recognised. However, his attempt proved unsuccessful.

Heartbroken by Imtiaz’s death, one of his relatives posted an open letter on the behalf of the slain inspector’s family’s.

An open letter to the murderers of Sub Inspector Mir Imtiaz

Let me talk to you…do you know when u killed Imtiaz you killed a loving son of an aged mother. An obedient son of an old father. Their only hope of old-age… You killed a brother who was the only support of his brother and sister. You killed every dream of a young girl whom he wanted to marry.

You killed the most God-fearing man…You killed a deeply religious man whose every endeavour was to offer Sallah in time, who would never ever miss even a single Roza in the month of Ramadan.

You killed a man who had Sufi thoughts, someone who read Sufism vastly, who read Karl Marx and every other field of thought.

You killed a man who topped his Masters batch, who was among the toppers of his S I batch.

Most importantly you killed someone who loved his Kashmir and its people like anything, whose only wish was to see a happy Kashmir.

You killed a man who just wanted to visit his family. His aged parents and his trouble stricken sister

But when u killed him why didn’t you kill us all. Why didn’t you kill his Mom, Dad, sister brother and the woman whom he wanted to spend the rest of his life with?

How can anyone console them? His little niece is repeatedly saying, “mey chu momyun pheran”, and we all just want to ask his killers why did they not kill us all. Please come and kill us all…We can’t live without him.
