A Hindi news channel’s reportage on Ayodhya trial led to Twitterati expressing shock, anger at the divisive and vitriolic narrative peddled by media.

The matter later became a butt of jokes when #NoidaFilmCityExcavation started trending on Twitter, with many proclaiming that Hanuman Ji ka Manka lies under the India Today headquarters in Noida and must be unearthed.

The Delhi headquartered media organization made divisive comments on the infamous Ayodhya case, claiming that the land originally belonged to the Hindus and their Lord Rama,  when the verdict is yet to be passed by the Supreme Court.

The quote further read, “Where did the Mosque proponents come from?”

The elaborate joke that later trended on Twitter started with a sarcastic tweet from the parody account @RoflGandhi_.

The tweet claimed that ‘Hanuman Ji ka Manka’ is buried under the Noida Film City, and a certain Professor Dahiya of Rohtak University wished for Prime Minister Modi to dig it out, to correct the historical wrong.

The hashtag later picked the pace and became a top trend on twitter, tricking people into believing the joke. The matter blew out of proportions after a petition was created to excavate Film City for Lord Hanuman’s temple.

A twtterati pointed out that even Google map showed Bhavya Manka lying beneath the foundation of India Today headquarters.

Few Twitterati went on to set up a facebook event to gather people to ‘Party at Noida film city for Hanuman ji ka Manka’.
