In one of the most bizarre and gruesome acts of organized crime, Saurabh Kumar was found dead under suspicious circumstances at his official residence at Kharagpur , West Bengal. Saurabh Kumar was a 31 year old engineer in the Indian Railways, and chances are that his honesty cost him his life.

The deceased was working at Kharagpur as depot chief material engineer. A graduate in production engineering from BIT Sindri (2004-2008), Saurav was to be transferred to Hazipur (Bihar) Railway subdivision recently.

Saurabh had the authority to pass (or reject) tenders for scrap metal sale and other railway works. Recently, a tender arrived for clearance on his table which the local scrap metal mafia pressurized him to sign. Saurabh, an honest officer, refused to yield in.

A few days later, he was found dead in his railway quarter, his face completely destroyed with what seems to be a brutal attack with a heavy weapon, and the face also seems to have burns marks of some kind, while his limbs have turned blue.

Guess what the local police says? They claim that the death happened due to snake-bite!

(Video shows blood lying in the bed of Saurabh)

We know how deep the ties of local mafias with the local administration can be. We have also seen how honest officers like Satyendra Dubey have been killed in the past. This unholy nexus is emerging as a huge threat to our nation. If honest officers are killed and the perpetrators are not even punished, how can we expect corruption to end?

letter

(This is the letter written by Saurabh’s brother to the police)

The Logical Indian community urges the Kharagpur administration as well as the Railway Ministry to take urgent steps to ensure an impartial investigation into this murder. We also urge our members to speak out actively and ask the Kharagpur police officers how this death seems to be from snake-bite. Let us ensure that honesty survives and thrives and the guilty are punished as per the law.

We request all the media houses to sensitize this issue and help create awareness and faith in the minds of the people who are losing faith with every such incident. No such criminals should be left unscathed and free from the fists of law.
