UP: 29-Yr-Old Woman Allegedly Gang Raped By Hospital Staff; FIR Registered

A 29-year-old woman patient was allegedly gang-raped by hospital staff in the ICU. The incident took place in a hospital of Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district, where the victim was admitted with a breathing problem.

“The woman was admitted to the hospital with a breathing problem. She has alleged that she was gang-raped by the hospital staff,” Circle Officer Harimohan Singh told ANI.


Gang raped in hospital

According to the police investigation, four male and one female staffer were involved in the case. The victim’s husband alleged that she was given some medicines laced with sedatives. When she fell unconscious, the staff proceeded to gang-rape her. The woman woke up to find a man on the bed with her. She had then raised an alarm, reports ANI.

An officer, investigating the case, said that CCTV cameras of the ICU were switched off at the time of the alleged incident, reports ANI.

An FIR has been lodged by the victim’s relatives after she narrated the whole incident to them in the next morning. The police have arrested all the three ward boys under section 376 (rape) of the IPC and an investigation is going to find the nurse who gave injection to the victim to put her to sleep.

Meanwhile, the police is also questioning to the hospital owner- Ashok Mittal, an official said.

The victim’s relatives also complained that the patient was discharged in a hurry and was sent home before she could lodge a complaint. “We tried to report the incident to the doctors and other employees but they did not listen to us,” said one of the victim’s relative, Deccan Herald reported.
