Uttar Pradesh: Woman Beaten, Disrobed & Paraded Naked For Allegedly Resisting Harassment

In Uttar Pradesh, where crime against women is on the rise, on December 30, a middle age woman in Bhadohi district of Gyanpur area, was beaten up, stripped and paraded naked for allegedly resisting harassment. A complaint has been registered against four people, one person has been arrested rest are still absconding.

On Sunday afternoon, the woman was outside her house when some men from the same community allegedly passed lewd comments on her. The woman objected to their comments, which angered the men. Later in the evening one of the main accused, Lal Chandra Yadav along with three other men barged into her house.

The accused men took her outside and started beating her. They then disrobed her and made her run naked in the village. While talking to the media the Circle officer, Yadavendra Yadav, said that the men stripped off her clothes and made to run in the village. He added, “Villagers shot the incident, and its video subsequently went viral.”

The officer further said that the woman is undergoing treatment at a hospital and a case has been registered against the accused involved in the case.


“Not a big incident”

The Logical Indian spoke to the Superintendent of police, Bhadohi, Rajesh S, who said that the incident is not that big, it is only the media which is portraying it in a different light. Further Bhadohi police media cell told us that the incident was a result of a feud among the two communities.

The officer confirmed that woman was beaten up and was disrobed by the men, yet he claimed that it was a minor incident. He further said that one accused has been arrested, while the others are still on the run. He said that efforts are being made to nab the rest of the culprits. According to the media reports, Inspector Anil Yadav of Gopiganj police station has been sent to the police line.
