The way Chennaites are coming together at this moment of crisis is outstanding. Chennai has never seen this kind of rain in last 100 years. From school to airport, every place is closed down.
Yesterday, a man and his bike were getting drowned, then a group of individuals showing great presence of mind, formed a human chain and saved him from getting drowned.
We salute them and to every Chennaites who have shown what being together means, everyone is trying to help, wherever they are. Those who have internet connection are using social media platforms to coordinate search, rescue and food distribution efforts and also reach out to people who need help.
Here’s how you can help:
• This page is a great source for those who can help with any provisions or volunteer efforts:
• This google sheet helps to find places to stay:
• This map is a crowdsourced map on which areas of Chennai are flooded
• Relief centres from Chennai Corporation:
• NDMA emergency nos and do’s and dont’s during flood.
• The list of helpline numbers that would come in real handy for Chennaites.
