Bajrang Dal the student wing of the Right Wing outfit Vishwa Hindu Parishad has stoked fresh controversy on Tuesday with its bizarre mock drill in UP showing volunteers tackling ‘terrorists’ sporting skull caps. A FIR has been filed under the sections pertaining to creating enmity between two groups of people. The video of the mock drill had gone viral on social media and has sparked an outrage over the blatant stereotyping of a community. Self confidence, Motivation and Self defense were cited as the reason for the conduction of drills. The drill was apparently conducted to train students to defend ‘Hindus’. It is reported that similar camps will be held  till June 5 in Sultanpur, Gorakhpur, Pilibhit, Noida and Fatehpur cities in the state.

Few questions remains

  1. How did Bajrangdal, an outfit which in the past have been part of inciting violence and riots got so many arms and ammunitiions?
  2. How did the schools in UP allow such a drill to be conducted?
  3. Why does Bajrang Dal continue to indulge in such activities unabated without anyone stopping them?

The Logical Indian strongly believes a socially stable and united people of India is of primary importance for India to grow. The best way forward is to march together. Such activities and stereotyping does not help anyone and if it helps it helps only the ones who do not wish a strong united and developed India. We request the state and central government to communicate effectively and give stern warning to fringe groups who threaten to create fissures in the society besides strengthening stereotypes that is detrimental. We request the governments to give high priority in maintaining social harmony.
