MLA’s son’s car kills 3

Three people killed and a sub-inspector was injured when a car allegedly driven by an Independent MLA’s son rammed into an autorickshaw and a police PCR van near St Xavier’s School, Jaipur. Three people were killed and five got injured, the injured includes Four police personnel.

Intoxication well above the limits

Police have alleged that 20-year-old son of MLA Nandkishore was driving the vehicle in an inebriated state. Siddarth and his father have denied that he was driving the car and was drunk. The police allege that Siddarth and his cousin were drunk way beyond the permissible limits of 30mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood, the accused Siddharth had 152 mg of alcohol.

‘Treat it as an accident’

The father of the accused has taken umbrage at the sections of IPC that have been imposed on his son i.e section 374 (culpable homicide) and 279 (rash driving). The MLA has said, it was an accident and it should be treated that way. The father has also cited hospital reports to suggest that his son and his cousin in the car were not intoxicated and it was the driver who drove the car but fled the scene.

Let justice prevail

Children of politicians and high net worth individuals have too often been on the news for the wrong reasons, for not abiding by the rules etc. And somehow they tend to escape persecution given the access and affordability to high profile lawyers. Three have died now, police have been injured, we hope the police and the judiciary could come to the logical conclusion of punishing the guilty whoever it may be, the driver or the son of the MLA.
