India recently announced ambitious plans to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions, but the country still plans to double the amount of coal it pulls from the ground by 2020. The government says this will propel economic growth for 1.3 billion citizens, but activists warn it could push the world dangerously close to irreversible climate change.
