A Uttar Pradesh cop, working with the Kanpur Police was suspended after he posted a hateful tweet about the family of Ankit Saxena, who was stabbed to death by his Muslim girlfriend’s relatives.
Senior Superintendent of Kanpur Police, Akhilesh Kumar, ordered the suspension of the officer after an in-house enquiry into the matter pointed out his wrong-doing, DNA India reported.
The cop named Arvind Singh Parihar tweeted, “Congratulations on embracing Islam, haramkhor” after Yashpal Saxena, Ankit’s father had organised an Iftar Party on Sunday, to promote communal peace and harmony.

He was responding to a news channel’s tweet which had reported about the Iftar Party, and his reaction left many users shocked, some of the whom afterwards urged the UP Police to take action.
One of the users, Shahid Ansari, then took screenshots and tagged the UP CM, Director-General Of Police, and the CM’s Office, News18 reported.
Ajit Kumar Rajak stationed at Babupurwa Circle, who inquired into the incident, stated that Arvind Singh Parihar had “confessed” to his misconduct.
Kanpur Police then tweeted that the incident was investigated by the station officer, who found him guilty. It stated, “We had the said matter investigated by the area officer, and after being found guilty, the said policeman was suspended with immediate effect.”
Ankit Saxena, 23, was a professional photographer who was killed by his girlfriend’s family, in a case of honour killing, in west Delhi’s Raghubir Nagar on Feb 1st. The girl’s family was against their relationship and brutally stabbed him to death. The Scroll reported that the girl’s parents and uncle are still in judicial custody, while her brother who is a minor was sent to a juvenile home.
After five months of his death, his father Yashpal Saxena, in a bid to endorse and spread a message of peace and love, organised an Iftar Party, which many including Dr Kafeel Khan from Gorakhpur attended.
The Logical Indian Take
At a time, when communal incidents and propaganda are on the rise, it is disheartening to see the persons whom we entrust with law and order make such inflammatory and derogatory comment on a public platform. Arvind Singh Parihar is not the only person who has made comments which go against the secular ideals of our Constitution. We must understand that whatever we post or share online has a ripple effect which can in due time lead back to you.
