Another Rape Victim Tries To Set Herself Ablaze; Is Rape New 'Normal' In Uttar Pradesh's Unnao?

Even as the rape case of a 17-year-old girl in 2017 involving BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengar in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao is still in court another case of gangrape has come up.

According to the mother, her daughter was kidnapped and gang raped by three men according to an India Today report.

The incident came to light when both of them tried to immolate themselves on Thursday, August 29, in front of the District Magistrate Office, in Unnao alleging the police inaction in the case.

The security personnel in the office stopped the two women and took them to the Makhi Police Station. The very station where Kuldeep Sengar’s complaint had been filed.

The plaintiff of the recent Unnao case also belonged to the same village as Sengar’s accusers. The whole incident appeared to be the replayed version of the brutal incident happened in Unnao in 2017.

On July 1, the three men alleged by the mother tricked the girl into their trap by telling her that her father was admitted to the hospital. The accused then took her to the woods where she was gang raped and left stranded.

The woman said she had filed a complaint, but the Police were taking no action after lodging the FIR, and her accusers were continually threatening her. “Immolation was the last option to end our trauma,” she said.

However, Circle Officer Gaurav Tripathi said that one of the accused had already been incarcerated. He also told that the other two remain absconded.
