Tribal Couple Stripped And Paraded Naked By Villagers, 13 Arrested

In a shocking incident, a tribal couple was mobbed, stripped and paraded naked by the locals as a punishment for infidelity in Kasotia village of Rajasthan. The Udaipur police have arrested 13 people today for their alleged involvement in the shameful act. A 25-year-old woman had reportedly left her husband’s house and was living with her 24-year-old lover without taking permission from the community. Angered by the event, villagers decided to punish the couple for the çrime they committed.

The couple was tortured and tied in the same position for two days. Though the incident took place on June 20, it only came to light after the after pictures of them were posted on social media by the bystanders, who jeered and mocked the couple by taking their photographs. None of the witnesses reported the incident to the authorities.

The accused, including the woman’s husband Bhanwarlal Meena, have been arrested under Sections 365, 384, and 354, reports said. Also, a case has been registered against 30 people.

The village Patwari has been suspended and two government school teachers , two ANMs and an ASHA worker have been sent show cause notices.

The Logical Indian condemns such shameful act of public taking law into their own hands. We urge that the arrested people should be given harsh punishment so that they learn their lesson.
