Train Tragedy Averted: This Daily-Wage Labourer With Limb Ailment Ran 3 Km To Inform Railway Officials About Crack

Krishna Poojary, a 53-year-old wage labourer was on his usual stroll along the railway tracks in Korangrapady in Karnataka’s Udupi district when he helped in averting a possible train tragedy with nothing but alertness and quick thinking.

Found the crack while on a stroll

According to The Times Of India, Poojary, who works at a food stall was advised by the doctor to walk every day to strengthen his leg and it was during one such stroll on Saturday that he found the crack. He was diagnosed with an ailment and lost strength in his right leg. While medical treatments failed, Poojary owing to his financial condition could not afford more treatment. Upon his doctor’s advice, he started walking in early mornings in Brahmasthana Nagabana area.

However, that day, just after walking a few steps, he noticed the crack. Reportedly, even as he stood there and observed it, a train passed by widening the crack even more. The thought of a possible accident loomed large in his head. Notwithstanding the pain in his leg and health condition, Poojary ran 3 km to reach a nearby station where he informed officials about the crack.

The crack has been fixed

Soon after, within the next 40 minutes, the railway engineers, escorted by Poojary rushed to the spot to fix the crack. Meanwhile, two trains, one at the Indrali railway station around 7 km away and the other at Padubidri station, around 16 km away were halted upon the railway officials’ orders. He told the daily that even though he has severe pain in his leg, he is glad that he could help people. Reportedly, the issue has been rectified now and trains are moving at a regular speed.

Thanks to Krishna Poojary and his quick thinking, a probable accident on the railway tracks was averted. The Logical Indian applauds his efforts in going the extra mile and helping the Railway authorities in ensuring safety.
