[Video] 22-Yr-Old Killed By His Tinder Date; Was Left By Law Even After 1000 Extortion Cases

A young man was brutally murdered and his family left shattered because his Tinder date honey-trapped him, and with her accomplices committed this heinous crime.

Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj, an independent journalist and documentary filmmaker whose work focuses on the misuse of gender-based laws in India and men’s issues, speaks to Priya Seth and her accomplices. Reports suggest that Priya Seth is a habitual offender and in her own words, she admits to defrauding more than 1000 men using various techniques, including fronting as an escort agency.

The police reveal that for a previous false-rape allegation she was arrested but was released on bail. The police faced difficulty in her case because she is a woman.

Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj spoke with The Logical Indian about the dark side of the Indian laws pertaining to rapes and in-general crimes against women.

She says, “Several cases of honey-trapping are being reported from across India. In some cases, cops are running such rackets because they know the laws are skewed.”

Deepika claims that Priya Seth used to boast about her connection with the police and that this was corroborated by Dikshant when she spoke with him.

She feels that a lack of outrage over the misuse of these laws is what gives the criminals the audacity to commit these crimes. As they know, they will wriggle out from the legal-judicial process.

Deepika says, “In Jaipur, a High Court lawyer was running such a racket. He went to jail but he was not de-barred.”

“I am afraid what will happen ten years down the line. If this continues, the conviction rate in rape cases might come down to 10%, and we will wonder what happened,” she adds.

The Logical Indian Take

Two things are to be noted here. One is that we should be more sceptical about the individuals we meet via online mediums. Secondly, are our laws on rape, extortion, blackmailing lopsided?
Women in our society do face extreme harassment, however, one-sided laws will eventually be misused.
