This Man With Paralyses Has Been Teaching At School for 18 Years Without Pay

For the last 18 years, Prabir Pal has been teaching at a school in West Bengal without taking a single penny for his service.

Pal, a resident of Goghat’s Mirga village has a congenital disorder and cannot stand upright and has to crawl to move from one place to another. Yet, every day he covers a distance of 2 kms to travel to Chatra Primary School. He teaches at the school without being officially assigned as a teacher. This is because of his sheer love for the children at school.

He not only teaches, but also takes care of school’s kitchen, grows organic vegetables in an adjacent garden to the school premises and cleans toilet and maintain cleanliness for all the students.

To take care of his livelihood, he earns money by giving private tuitions. Every other teacher at the school respects Pal and his contribution to the school without asking for money.
