Baksho Devi, you might have heard of this name before. This is the same flying girl from Una district in Himachal Pradesh, who shot to fame after running at zero degree temperature and winning Gold at a district-level tournament organized by the government. She wanted to make the country proud but she is forced to live in confined walls of her house to survive.

She grabbed the attention of the world when she won the 5000-meter race and clinched the gold medal, leaving some of the professional racers behind. She lives in a small hut, and her mother can’t provide for the family. So, running gear is a distant dream for Baksho. She helps her mother in her daily chores.

Her popularity in media made politicians promise her the best possible resource and admission in a sports hostel. But nothing happened.

Amar Ujala reports that now she runs her home instead of running for the country.

The Logical Indian community requests govt. to look into this matter and hopes Baksho Devi gets what was promised to her. A country with 1.2 billion people can’t be without talent. There are talents who can make India proud but their dream dies a slow death due to our apathy.
